You can now enter the following information:

  • Name of the Sexual Orientations

  • Display Order
  • Active? - whether this option is available on the system or not

Click "Save Details" when you have entered the information.

Examples of use

The Sexual Orientation of the people that an organisation works with has become a common piece of information that funders ask for, even if the work that the organisation carries out does not relate to the Sexual Orientation of their clients.

Understandably it is often sensitive information and users of the system find it difficult to ask their clients for it. For this reason it is sometimes included in the standard Input Field Rules for a system, to encourage users to capture it at first contact if possible. Many of our customers write a script for everyone in their organisation to use when asking the question, so that they don't feel pressured to word the question in a particular way. In general, clients are usually happy to disclose the information. It's important to have a "did not wish to disclose" option too.

Reporting Outputs

Information entered using the Sexual Orientations drop-down list is available:

  • In Data Extractions, both as selection criteria and as data to be output on a spreadsheet
  • In the KPI Report Designer as a filter (for example, the Number of Clients Accessing Service By Sexual Orientation report)
