A carer is anyone who cares, unpaid, for a friend or family member who due to illness, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction cannot cope without their support. - [Carers Trust]

Introduction

Your system will be configured to one of the following:

  • Client and Carer - This configuration is if you primarily work with service users that may have carers caring for them, or no need to look at this relationship.
  • Client and Cared Gors - This configuration is for Carer type organisation that supports people caring for others.

A carer is anyone who cares, unpaid, for a friend or family member who due to illness, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction cannot cope without their support [1].

The system has the option to be configured in two ways when it comes to Carers and Cared Fors (The cared for person).

  • Carer - The carer is the main service users who receives the services offered by your organisation. This system is preconfigured with Clients and Cared Fors.
  • Standard - The carer relationship is not relevant or your organisation mainly supports the Cared For. This system is preconfigured with Clients and Carers.

The Carer Configuration

With the Carer configuration there is a tab on the Client record to add Cared Fors and a the reverse available on the Cared For record. It is also normal to use the service user group field on the Cared For which is used for reporting. In reverse it would be typical to use the Status Field on the client record (used for Young Carers, Young Ault Carers, Adult Carers & Ex Carers).

The Cared For Record can be fully customisable like other records (see Organisations and People for full details]]).
