Here's a guide to help get you up and running with the system. If you're a system administrator, remember our UK based support team are on-hand to help (all plans except Starter). See the admin quick-start.

Key concepts

1) Charitylog and Crossdata are part-CRM (Customer Relationship Management) and part-Case Management systems. They help you manage your daily contacts with clients and report back to funders to demonstrate the impact you're making.

2) Everyone on your system has one or more record types, e.g. someone can be both a client and a volunteer. This prevents duplication as you only have to enter each person's record once.

3) Contacts with clients (or other record types), e.g. calls, visits emails etc, are grouped into cases (sometimes called referrals). Each case belongs to a service, which can be thought of as a project or department. This helps when you need to report back to your funders.

4) The systems is entirely web-based, so you don't need to update anything, beyond keeping your browser up-to-date.

Navigation

Most of what you'll need is in the quick search menu in the top right hand corner. Just type:

1) The name, email address etc a person you're looking for

2) The name of feature, e.g. a report or setting

3) An id number like a client, case, job card or invoice.

Accessibility

1) Click your user name, then Edit My Preferences, for accessibility controls, like high-contrast themes, font sizes etc.

2) Press Alt + X to enable visual shortcut mode, which will add an overlay to show the access keys available.

Other tips

1) Set your home page to be the page you use most by clicking your user name in the top right, then Edit My Preferences

2) Every page in the application has a page in this manual. Click the question mark in the top right.
